Empowering Hope in Yendi, Ghana
At the Nazareth Home for God’s Children in Yendi, Ghana, the Mustard Seed Foundation has undertaken a transformative initiative to bring reliable and sustainable energy to one of the region’s most vulnerable communities. Home to 155 children with special needs, Nazareth Home relies on stable electricity to provide essential daily care—yet for years, power shortages hindered their ability to create a safe, nurturing environment.
To address this urgent need, the Foundation installed a 6-kW hybrid solar system, supported by 5.1 kWh of battery storage, designed to work seamlessly alongside the home’s existing 12 kW off-grid solar array. After a thorough technical assessment, our team optimized load distribution between both systems, ensuring the entire facility now benefits from uninterrupted, dependable power.
This upgrade represents far more than improved energy access. With consistent electricity, the home can refrigerate food and medicine safely, operate essential medical equipment, power lighting and ventilation, and maintain a comfortable environment for the children—many of whom require constant, specialized care.
Reliable solar energy also reduces operational costs, allowing the staff to allocate more resources toward therapy, education, nutrition, and emotional support. Daily routines have become smoother, caregiving has become more effective, and the children now live in a more stable and nurturing setting.
The impact of the Yendi project extends well beyond technology. It safeguards dignity, health, and opportunity for children who are often overlooked by society. By providing a sustainable energy solution, the Mustard Seed Foundation has empowered Nazareth Home to focus on what matters most: giving every child the chance to grow, learn, and thrive.

Transforming Lives in Ndoss, Senegal
One of the Mustard Seed Foundation’s landmark successes is our project in Ndoss, Senegal, where we completed the construction of a 25-meter-deep community water well. This well provides consistent, reliable access to clean and safe drinking water—a vital resource that dramatically improves the health and quality of life for the local population.
Beyond just water access, this project has enabled the introduction of innovative drip irrigation systems, which have significantly boosted agricultural productivity by conserving water and increasing crop yields. This advancement allows farmers to cultivate organic vegetables more efficiently, creating sustainable economic opportunities and fostering food security within the community.
The impact of the Ndoss project extends far beyond immediate water needs. By addressing the essential challenge of water scarcity, the foundation has helped lay the groundwork for broader social and economic development. Access to clean water reduces waterborne diseases, improves hygiene, and empowers families, especially women and children, to pursue education and other opportunities that were previously out of reach due to the burden of water collection.

How We Allocate Funding
At the Mustard Seed Foundation, we take pride in our commitment to transparency and accountability. 100% of the funds allocated to our projects are directed entirely to the initiatives we undertake. The founder personally covers all administrative and operational costs, ensuring that every cent of the funding is spent directly on the sustainable solutions we implement. This guarantees that our promises are fulfilled, with every resource dedicated solely to creating real, lasting impact for the communities we serve.
A Message from the Founder: Florian von Tucher
In the mid-2000s my involvement in development aid took me to some of the most remote and impoverished regions of the world.
Northern Tibet, Mongolia, and Western China – where I was involved with the implementation of decentralised wastewater treatment systems, I realised I needed a deeper purpose. Though I later found success in real estate development, the desire to make a lasting impact never left me.
